Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Programs

At the Zee Turner Center for Community Health Worker Workforce Development, we are committed to equipping current and aspiring CHWs with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to succeed.

CHW Core Skills Competency Training

Through real-world scenarios and hands-on exercises, participants gain the practical skills necessary to address the complex challenges faced by communities today. Our 120-hour CHW Core Competency Training is accredited in both Maryland and Virginia and is designed to prepare individuals for CHW certification in either state. The training covers essential topics such as:

  • Health promotion and disease prevention
  • Advocacy and community engagement
  • Navigation of health and social service systems
  • Cultural competency and communication skills

CHW Core Skills Competency Training: IPHI offers a 120-hour CHW Core Competency Training accredited in both Maryland and Virginia, which can lead to certification in either jurisdiction. The well-structured curriculum and training experience covers essential topics such as health promotion, disease prevention, and advocacy. Practical skills are honed through real-world scenarios, ensuring CHW graduates are well-prepared for the challenges they may face. 

Individuals who are interested in becoming CHWs, or existing CHWs interested in becoming certified in Maryland or Virginia can apply to our CHW Academy to access the core training for free.
