Why are community health workers (CHWs) important? CHWs are important because they bridge the gap between their communities and the health care system. CHWs help their clients by building strong relationships to assess their needs better and put them in contact with organizations that can help. Without CHWs, many underserved populations would go without everyday needs and resources.
